As September winds down, we’ve got a packed monthly digest for you: Unraid OS 7.2.0-beta.3 is now available, bringing stability, polish, and refinements to all of the big new features coming in 7.2. Be on the lookout for rc1 coming very soon!

We’ve also launching the Unraid API Feature Bounty Program, giving developers the chance to build real Unraid features for cash rewards.

Lastly, for Linux users, the brand-new USB Creator for Linux makes creating your boot drive easier than ever.

Unraid OS 7.2.0-beta.3

TL;DR: What’s new in beta.3?

Unraid 7.2.0-beta.3 continues to make the OS more stable, usable, and polished — smoothing out rough edges from earlier betas while refining the new responsive webGUI, built-in API, and expanded storage features. If you’re comfortable running beta software and want to explore advanced features like RAIDZ expansion, filesystem flexibility, or SSO login, now’s a great time to spin it up on a non-production system.

What’s New and Noteworthy

Responsive WebGUI
The Unraid webGUI now adapts dynamically to any screen for seamless server management from everywhere.

Built‑in Unraid API
The Unraid API is now integrated directly into the OS. The new Notifications panel already leverages it, paving the way for future in‑GUI app integrations.

Expanded Storage Support

ZFS RAIDZ expansion allows single‑vdev RAIDZ1/2/3 pools to grow one disk at a time.
New filesystem formats supported: Ext2/3/4, NTFS, and exFAT join XFS, BTRFS, and ZFS—making migration and drive upgrades much more easy and flexible.

Filesystem Warnings
Unraid now alerts you if drives use ReiserFS (to be deprecated in 7.3) or older versions of XFS (deprecated by 2030), helping you plan migrations early.

Dashboard & UX Enhancements
CPU usage stats now come directly from the Unraid API. Numerous fixes polish the experience, from corrected network speed reporting and icon spacing to better dark mode notifications and more.
