Unraid Digest #84
Hey Unraiders,
Happy Halloween! 👻 We’re at the end of another spooky month! Five releases shipped (yes, 7.2 folks, one’s for you), the X4 launched, and a big crew from the team made it to the 45Drives Creator Summit.
What’s New?
The Unraid Cyber Weekend Sale is Coming
Busy season is coming for the Family IT Department.
Before the holiday tech-support calls start, get the closet in order. Cyber Weekend runs Nov 25–30, 2026, with savings on new builds, upgrades, and a backup server for Mom’s house. Sale details drop Nov 25.
Highlights from the 45Drives Creator Summit
A big crew from the Unraid team headed to the 45Drives Creator Summit in North Carolina for an X4 launch event, a Street Fighter 6 tournament, and a few early looks at Unraid 8. Alex and Ed sat down to recap the trip, plus how Ed runs local AI on his own server. Watch the Recap here:

All users are encouraged to update. |
Unraid 7.4.0-rc.1 and rc.2 are ready for testing 7.4 makes it easier to see what your server is doing: track Mover progress, keep background tasks in one tray, and give Docker containers memory limits and multiple networks. rc.1 landed Oct 8, and rc.2 followed Oct 22 with the same PHP security patch. Stable is coming soon. | |
 | Still on 7.2? Unraid 7.2.9 brings PHP security fixes and certificate updates to the 7.2 branch. For the newest kernel and broadest security updates, 7.3.4 is the recommended upgrade path. |

App of the Month: Frigate (video coming soon)
Your cameras, your footage, all on your own network and storage. Frigate records your IP cameras and runs AI object detection locally, with support for Intel, AMD, and Nvidia GPUs or a Google Coral. It’s built to pair with Home Assistant.
Our full Frigate guide is in final production and lands on the Uncast channel shortly. We’re doing it a little differently this time. Because of how many camera security issues have come up this year, the guide uses Tailscale for all remote access. You’ll see how to view your cameras away from home, and get phone notifications when someone comes to the door, without exposing anything to the internet.
Subscribe on YouTube so you see it the day it drops, and catch up on past App of the Month guides in the meantime!
