Thanks for checking in with us again this month. April was another jam-packed month of Unraid updates, so let’s get right into it!
Unraid OS 7.1.0 Stable Coming Soon
The Unraid 7.1 Release Candidate series is wrapping up with Unraid 7.1.0-rc.4, and we expect the Stable release to land next week! Unraid 7.1.0 will bring major new capabilities and improvements across the board, including:
🛜 Wireless Networking Support — connect your Unraid server to Wi-Fi.
💻 VM Enhancements — including VirGL and QXL support, plus User VM Templates for faster setup and sharing.
🧩 Import Foreign ZFS Pools — easily migrate ZFS pools from other platforms and devices.
🎮 Battlemage GPU Support – thanks to an updated Linux kernel.
🆕 Hundreds of additional fixes and improvements to Storage, VMs, Networking, the WebGUI, and more!
Unraid API Webinar Recap: What’s Coming for Devs + Users
We recently hosted a live developer webinar showcasing the new open-source Unraid API Plugin System coming to Unraid OS 7.2.0 and beyond:
Modular Plugin Architecture: Built on NestJS and GraphQL, plugins can modify functionality either through API endpoints or command-line tools.
GUI Integration: Devs can create custom WebGUI components with built-in tools for frontend development.
Improved Testing & Maintenance: A consistent structure makes plugins easier to build, test, and maintain.
Background Tasks & Sync: Support for Node.js-based background jobs, real-time subscriptions, and caching.
Installation & Versioning: Plugin versioning is planned to ensure compatibility and smoother updates.
Developer Support: Official examples, quick start guides, and documentation are on the way.
